Inspiriert von Bands und Künstlern wie Pink Floyd, Yes, den frühen Genesis und Nektar, besonders deren unvergessenem Mastermind Roye Albrighton, verbindet die Band anspruchsvolle Kompositionen mit emotionaler Tiefe, eingängigen Melodien und einer klaren inhaltlichen Botschaft.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eDie Entstehung von RATKEN im Jahr 2024 ist eng mit der musikalischen Geschichte des ehemaligen Nektar Keyboarder Klaus Henatsch verbunden. Nach dem Tod von Roye Albrighton im Jahr 2016 engagierte sich Henatsch intensiv dafür, dessen musikalisches Vermächtnis weiterzuführen. Mit seiner 2018 gegründeten Formation New Nektar hielt er die Musik der Progressive-Rock-Legende Nektar am Leben und veröffentlichte das Album Megalomania, das international hervorragende Kritiken erhielt. Aufgrund namensrechtlicher Auseinandersetzungen musste New Nektar jedoch 2023 eingestellt werden. Auch das Album Megalomania wurde vorsorglich vom Markt genommen.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eMit RATKEN setzt Klaus Henatsch diesen Weg nun unter neuem Namen und mit neuer kreativer Freiheit fort. Gleichzeitig knüpft die Band an die Tradition der Nektar-Live-Besetzungen sowie an die Alben Fortyfied (2009) und Time Machine (2013) an. Neben eigenen Kompositionen gehört die Pflege des musikalischen Erbes von Roye Albrighton zu den zentralen Anliegen der Band. Deshalb finden auch ausgewählte Nektar-Klassiker sowie Roye Albrighton’s Kompositionen weiterhin ihren Platz im Live-Programm.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eMusikalisch bewegt sich RATKEN zwischen atmosphärischen Klanglandschaften und druckvollen Rock- und Metal-Passagen. Charakteristisch sind die für den Progressive-Rock typischen Wechsel zwischen komplexen, ungeraden Taktarten \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eund geradlinigen Rockgrooves. Düster-aggressive Momente treffen auf melancholische Stimmungen und werden immer wieder von ruhigen, emotionalen Passagen durchbrochen. Die Texte thematisieren Gewalt, Machtmissbrauch und demokratiegefährdende Entwicklungen ebenso wie die Verantwortung jedes Einzelnen. Trotz aller kritischen Betrachtung bleibt jedoch stets ein Hoffnungsschimmer erkennbar.
