In 1996, trumpeter Boney Fields flew from his hometown of Chicago to France to perform with blues legend Luther Allison, who had requested him because of his skills as an outstanding sideman and entertainer.
After Luther's sudden death in August 1997, he found himself jobless, but instead of returning to the United States and continuing his sideman career, Boney decided to stay in France and form his own band. He recruited his musicians in Paris, all of whom came from diverse musical backgrounds and origins (Senegal, Martinique, Mauritius, Toulouse, the United States, etc.). Between 1997 and 1999, he recorded 12 tracks, released on his first album, "Hard Work." This marked the birth of his group, The Bone's Project, in the early 2000s. He is the leader, songwriter, trumpeter, and vocalist.
The first concerts were often jam sessions in local clubs, but gradually the artist's reputation and his talents as a tireless showman grew, and dates at festivals and concert halls in Europe and abroad followed.
Over the years, the group evolved, the musicians were renewed, The Band became Boney FIELDS and BFB (Boney Fields Band), one album followed another...
Raised on Sunday gospel sermons, a fan of the funky, urban sound he helped create on the streets of Chicago, Boney Fields is the heir to a long tradition that has never stopped renewing itself and opening itself up to new influences, without forgetting its foundations.
With this new show, Boney Fields celebrates 25 years of his career under his own name after 7 albums and almost 600 concerts in over 20 countries with some highlights from his current and past repertoire.
He titled this tour “Back in the Day,” a song he wrote as a tribute to his mother, who died in January 2023, and which is included on his latest album, “Just Give Me Some Mo.”
