Green Desert Tree

Green Desert Tree

DE | Progressive Rock

Green Desert Tree left a lasting mark on the prog world with their first album, "Progressive Worlds," in 2019. The Berlin band, led by mastermind Tim Sund (keyboardist for Krautrock legends Agitation Free, among others), has proven that contemporary German neo-prog doesn't have to hide behind its international competitors when it comes to musical quality and originality. The experts had noticed a new star in the prog world. But just as the band was about to hit the international festival circuit, the band was halted: the coronavirus. This involuntary interruption of all activities also brought with it a few personnel changes, with the former bassist Sascha Giebel becoming lead singer, and Italian bassist Francesco Beccaro joining the band. Green Desert Tree has now completed its second album, which will be released on MIG Music in February 2026.

The first album has already been distributed by MIG. While the first album follows the life of the fictional protagonist Mat Plundrot, who increasingly develops into a sociopath who stops at nothing over the course of his life, the songs on the new album are a collection of stories told by the "storyteller." One of them is about a woman mourning her fiancé, who suddenly disappears without a trace on the eve of their wedding. Another song is about a teenage computer game addict who believes he is a knight who must protect his kingdom from dangerous dragons.

What unites all of GDT's music is a quality of storytelling reminiscent of bands like early Genesis, Yes, and Saga, as well as contemporary artists like Neal Morse and Steven Wilson, combined with a vast spectrum of musical influences and great instrumental virtuosity.

Green Desert Tree will now finally do what should have happened long ago, with the release of their second album, "Fighting Dragons," in spring 2026: conquer the German stages and win the hearts of progressive music fans. Concerts are planned across Germany for the release of Fighting Dragons in spring 2026.
