Maldito

Maldito

NO | Rock, Pop, Blues

Maldito was formed in Liverpool in 2015 by Vegard Ring, Bendik Brevik, Gard Rognskog, and Jon Olav Alstad while studying at the renowned Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Drawing inspiration from 70s rock and prog, combined with a touch of 90s pop-rock, the band has crafted its own unique musical identity.

As winners of the Union Blues Cup in 2019, Maldito has performed on nearly 90 stages across Norway, England, and Germany. They also represented Norway at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2020, where they reached the quarterfinals. The band has played at festivals such as Notodden Blues Festival, Irchenberg Festival, Eutin Bluesfest, Norwegian Blues Adventure in London, and Øyafestivalen. In 2023, they opened for Grammy winners Larkin Poe at Tapperiet in Trondheim.

"Maldito is the band that turned down an opportunity to write songs with Paul McCartney because they thought it was more important to continue their tour in Germany instead of canceling. That deserves respect." – Øyvind Rønning, Dagbladet, 2024.

Their debut album, Heartlands, was recorded in 2020 and released the following year. The album features singles like "Walk Away" and "Dig the Rhythm of Your Heartbeat," while tracks such as "Frontline" and "Clocktower" became radio classics in Germany.

"This album, Maldito's debut, is never boring. It pins you to the wall with a nerve and a quest for something unique and 'new' that is admirable. Ignoring this band can only be described as cowardice!" – Johnny Andreassen, Blues News, 2021.

In May 2024, Maldito followed up with the album Contact Light, a release that fully unleashed their creative energy.

"Contact Light is timeless, un-Norwegian, energetic, pulsating, red-hot rock'n'roll. My favorites: 'Moon and the Stars,' 'The Clown,' 'Balloon,' and the epic closer 'Nothing.'" – Øyvind Rønning, Dagbladet, 2024.

"The first half of the album, with tracks like 'Miracles,' 'The Clown,' and the single 'Voices,' is pure joy to listen to. Maldito has definitely gained a new fan here. 8/10." – Torger Havåg, Musikknyheter, 2024.

With over 150 shows across Norway, Germany, the UK, and the US, Maldito has established itself as one of Trondheim's most cohesive and powerful live bands. This is a band that truly must be experienced live.
