Corky Laing's MOUNTAIN - live in Melle, 2CDs
For almost five decades, the American formation Mountain has stood for powerful melodic hard rock of the highest perfection. Songs like "Mississippi Queen," "Nantucket Sleighride," "Theme From An Imaginary Western" and "Blood Of The Sun" are among the immortal classics of rock music that have lost none of their fascinating power and effect to this day. Founded in 1969 in New York by Leslie West, Felix Pappaladi, Steve Knight and Corky Laing, the quartet, considered by fans and critics to be Cream's successor, advanced to become one of the most successful acts of the genre, performing at the legendary Woodstock Festival in the same year. Thus, far more than twenty albums - including various gold-plated releases - go to the creative account, the band active to this day in changing lineups. On this concert recording, recorded on February 12, 2016 in Melle, Lower Saxony, as part of their "German-Sleighride-Tour", the power trio consisting of drummer, singer and founding member Corky Laing, Phil Parker (guitar, vocals) and Joe Venti (bass, vocals) delivers a furious sample of his band-typical, always recognizable hard rock variant.
