For almost five decades, the American band Mountain has stood for powerfully melodic hard rock in its highest perfection. Songs like "Mississippi Queen," "Nantucket Sleighride," "Theme From An Imaginary Western," and "Blood Of The Sun" are among the immortal classics of rock music, which to this day have lost none of their fascinating power and impact.
Founded in 1969 in New York by Leslie West, Felix Pappaladi, Steve Knight, and Corky Laing, the quartet, hailed by fans and critics as the successor to Cream and performing at the legendary Woodstock Festival in the same year, became one of the most successful acts in the genre. More than twenty albums – including various gold-certified releases – are attributed to the creative output of the band, which is still active today with changing lineups.
On this live recording, captured on February 12, 2016, in Melle, Lower Saxony, as part of their "German-Sleighride-Tour," the power trio, consisting of drummer, singer, and founding member Corky Laing, along with Phil Parker (guitar, vocals) and Joe Venti (bass, vocals), delivers a furious sample of their signature, always recognizable hard rock style.
