For fifteen years now, the Swiss formation Fido Plays Zappa has dedicated itself to the imposing oeuvre of the ingenious musical grandmaster Frank Zappa (1940-1993), paying musical tribute to the American enfant terrible on six albums so far as well as with countless, always sold-out live shows throughout Europe.
On the now available double album "Atlantis & Elsewhere", the recordings of which were made during their two tours through Germany and Switzerland last year, the eight-member band once again dives deep into the compositionally and lyrically insane cosmos of the incomparable musician, composer and provocateur and presents fourteen selected works from his artistic oeuvre.
In doing so, F.P.Z. always proceed in a stylistically confident, humorous, virtuosic manner and with great independence in their interpretative approach, the perfectly coordinated musicians celebrate their irrepressible passion for Zappa's music, F.P.Z. seek (and find) improvisational freedom. improvisational freedom and skillfully make use of the musical diversity and compositional humor of the originals, including classics such as "Inca Roads", "San Berdino", "Uncle Remus", "Montana", "Cosmik Debris" or "Brown Shoes Dont Make It".
