FR | Rock-Heavy-Psych
Komodrag and the Mounodor was born in 2019 from the meeting of two rock/heavy/psych bands, Moundrag and Komodor. The first artistic encounter took place during one of Komodor's sets. The two members of Moundrag decided to join the band on stage at the end of their performance to play a few songs together, mostly covers. And with each joint performance, the encounter delighted the audience. The two groups got along both personally and musically, so they decided to continue the adventure and create a "superband": Komodrag and the Mounodor. An electrifying rock group halfway between CSNY (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young), Jefferson Airplane and Grand Funk.
In July 2020, Moundrag received an invitation from the Planète Pesto collective to perform a live session, but they declined to offer Komodrag and the Mounodor instead. It was the first time that the "superband" played their own compositions, reminiscent of a revival of the big rock bands of the seventies. This live session was sent to Jean-Louis Brossard, programmer of the TransMusicales de Rennes (France), who was immediately enthusiastic and gave the group carte blanche for the December 2021 festival. This was a big challenge for Komodrag and Mounodor, who until then had only three original compositions in their repertoire. In just four months, the group composed a one-hour program.
Driven by a passion for groove and a love of rich riffs, the two bands decide to consolidate the project by accepting a tour in France and Spain in April 2022 with more than 30 dates alongside artists such as DeWolff and Tankus The Henge, which will serve as a warm-up before the release of their debut album in October 2023.
The album was enthusiastically received by the French press, with media outlets such as France Inter, Rolling Stone and Rock and Folk calling them THE band to follow in 2024. Green Field of Armorica was also a resounding success with audiences, with the band playing to sold-out crowds at each release party, whether at the Maroquinerie in Paris, the Vauban in Brest or in Douarnenez, one of the band's strongholds. In addition, the album entered the TOP 200 of SNEP's physical sales chart in its first week of release. 2024 will undoubtedly be a year for the band, as they have already announced a whole series of prestigious festivals. You can see them at events such as HellFest, the Aluna Festival, the Francofolies de La Rochelle, the Festival des Vieilles Charrues and next June in London.
